Funding Guidelines Now Available, Zip Code Subcommittees Accepting Requests

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (March 19, 2008)
—The Haywood County Tourism Development Authority has made new 1-percent funding guidelines, along with funding request forms, for events/festivals and special promotions available to the public.

The guidelines/requests are available at the following locations: the HCTDA office, Haywood County Chamber of Commerce, Maggie Valley Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Waynesville Association, Maggie Valley Town Hall, Waynesville Town Hall, Canton Town Hall, Clyde Town Hall, and Lake Junaluska Assembly Administration Building. The forms can also be downloaded from the "About Us" page of HCTDA Web site, www.smokeymountains.net.

The Haywood County Board of Commissioners recently appointed 1% Funding Subcommittees for the five zip code collection areas (28716, 28721, 28745, 28751, and 2875/28786). These subcommittees will receive the funding requests and are charged with recommending to the HCTDA Board of Directors how the money collected from the additional 1-percent occupancy tax between January 1, 2008, and June 30, 2008, should be spent. Any entity applying to receive a portion of these funds must use that money for an event/festival or special promotion by June 30, 2008.
